One of the best and also one of the last major games for last gen was The Last of Us. If you by any chance missed it and own a PS4, rejoice, because here comes The Last of Us Remastered. You will be able to follow Joel and Ellie's journey in full 1080p, complete with improved models and effects, plus all the map packs and the The Last of US: Left Behind DLC released on the PS3. The survivor Joel is given the mission to transport the young girl Ellie through a post-pandemic US, 20 years after the disaster has struck. You will need to use both violence and wits to avoid getting killed by either regular humans or infected ones. There is plenty of gameplay footage here, but if you haven't played the game I suggest the spoiler free trailer instead.

Release: April 2015 (NA)(EU)
Genre: Platform

In the year 20XX —- In a world where robotic engineering has greatly advanced.

Dr. White created 9 robot siblings known as the “Mighty Numbers”, who were the most popular and powerful team of robots in the Battle Colosseum and always in the top ranks. But, during one competition there was a sudden act of cyber terror, infecting them with a computer virus causing them to become crazed and rampant.

Mighty No. 9 is a very succesful Kickstarter that collected 4 Million dollars. The reason for this is that the legendary Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man, is behind the project. Mighty No. 9 is considered to be the spiritual successor to Mega Man and the gameplay will be similar to the old cult platformer. Mighty No. 9 is a 2D platformer with 3D artwork. You control the robot Beck who has the ability to both take the weapons from the enemies he defeat and transform into new shapes based on the bosses he has defeated. The story line is that Beck is the only one of a group of combat robots called Mighty Numbers, who is unaffected by a virus. He has to fight and defeat the other Mighty Numbers in order to save the planet. For more information you can visit the official website or look at some early preview footage. There is also this very good preview of a documentary about the creation of the game.

Game: Natural Doctrine
Developer: Kadokawa Games
Publisher: NIS America
Release: Q3 2014 (NA)(EU)
Genre: Tactical JRPG

Seasones explorers and novices alike venture underground into dangerous caves to collect the coveted material known as Pluton. But on your first trip down into these mines you quickly realize that things may be more dire than you imagined…

From the people who developed Demon Gaze, Natural Doctrine is going to arrive for the PS4 in 2014. This japanese tactical RPG has been released in its home territory already and got decent reviews, but for some reason it has not sold very well. the main characters name is Jeff (seriously?) and he is accompanied by the two girls Vasilisa and Anca. They have to fight for the human race in a fantasy world, using magic and medieval weaponry. The battles are turn based and have a pretty unique mechanic. Perhaps the best description of it is that it is a modern version of Valkyria Chronicles and Final Fantasy Tactics mixed together. Jeff (is it short for Geoffrey?) and his companions can be found on PS3, PS4 and the PS Vita. Here is gameplay footage of the PS4 version.
